Life is a a wonderful journey that takes us through numerous curves, obstacles, detours, road blocks, unexpected delays and pleasant scenic routes. Unfortunately, as we meander along one has to wonder are they offering their ‘BEST’ self each day. Are you giving your all in regards to your talents and skills? Is your ‘head’ in the game? Are you feeling refreshed enough to make the best decisions daily that can have lifelong applications? Are you up to meeting the challenges for TODAY?
I looked at this picture my dear husband and I captured while playing around on a staycation recently in Raleigh, NC and realized that we each must start our day being ‘centered’ to maximize the potential for the day. Waking up late and rushing out the door limits are emotional and mental capabilities to handle stress that inevitably occurs each day. Having a morning routing is very helpful in starting the day in the right ‘zone’.
Everyone is different! Some like to start their day with a cup of coffee and reading the newspaper. Others purposely arrive to work 15 minutes early to clear their desk and gather their thoughts for the day. Personally, I enjoy starting my day a bit earlier and having time to do any leftover household chores. Then I retreat to my prayer room just off the kitchen. The walls are painted a turquoise color and there are inspiring bible scriptures on the wall. I have soft white furry rugs on the floor and a hot pink chair that I can sit in. I love these 20 min or so each day because I pray, read God’s word, dream of my goals both short term and long term. The benefit of this time carries throughout the day exponentially! I leave my home with an attitude of gratitude and a lighter disposition. I feel as though I am actually living the ‘Don’t sweat the small stuff!’ mantra!
Are you centered? Do you think you can consider trialing a regular morning routine? Think of what you can incorporate in the beginning of your day that sets the tone for joyfulness and lowers stress for the whole day!
